こちらの作品は療養所での生活を終え、退院前に描かれた”回復の喜び”を描かれた作品です。

花瓶からあふれんばかりの薔薇を生き生きと描くことでゴッホの喜びが率直に表現されています。

白い薔薇の花言葉には「純潔」、「深い尊敬」、「相思相愛」という意味があります。

This work depicts the ‘joy of recovery’, painted before he was discharged from the sanatorium after his stay. Van Gogh’s joy is expressed frankly in this lively depiction of roses overflowing from a vase. In the language of flowers, white roses mean ‘purity’, ‘deep respect’ and ‘love for each other’.
